Iditarod Musher Disqualified for Abuse

Two-time runner-up Ramy Brooks was disqualified from the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race for abusing his dogs. The 38-year-old Brooks hit each of his 10 dogs with a trail marking lathe, similar to a surveyor's stake, after two refused to get up and continue running on an ice field, race marshal Mark Nordman told The Associated Press from Nome on Sunday.

One of Brooks' dogs died the next day on the trail.

Not sure I could possibly have anything constructive to say about this one other than the fact that physical abuse is NEVER the answer. Would love to hear what you think.

Abusing your dogs are not right, the dogs are supposed to love and help you. Your supposed to have a good relationship with your dog, not make them fear you, a good relationship with your dogs is what you should have, your dogs must trust you and then whern you help them and love them they will help you when you really need it. Like if your racing the iditarod your dogs will give it all they got to help you win. If you lose then you still dont hit your dogs, how would you like getting hit! Well then they shouldnt hit their dogs. If you dont hit them and you keep taking care of them they will try better next years iditarod.
